Flamin-Go Bob

Bob’s behavior ruffles feathers. Unlike the other flamingos, Bob prefers to splash in the surf, glide in the wind, and ride the waves. When reminded that birds of a feather should flock together, Bob attempts to fit in. But when a storm blows through and carries Bob away, he encounters an islander who takes the flamingo under her wing. Will Bob finally get the chance to be the Flamin-Go he was designed to be?

Laugh along with Bob as you discover the answer.

Under the Umbrella Tree

From sunrise to sundown, the umbrella tree stands anchored in the African grasslands. As the day begins, life stirs among the tree’s tenants. In Under the Umbrella Tree, readers discover how the iconic dome-shaped tree plays host to an array of animals that visit and reside beneath its canopy. The story moves chronologically through a day in the tree’s life and from its canopy to the roots buried beneath the earth.

Under the Umbrella Tree is a scientific blend of tree and animal behaviors written for children. Lyrical prose pay tribute to unique animals and their relationship with the African acacia tree.

Chico

Chico, a rescued longhorn dogie, discovers the good life along the banks of the Frio River in Texas. He is content to stay close to home, his beloved Sophia, and the wild peppers that delight his palate. But Chico’s life turns upside down when cowboys force him to join a herd of cattle being driven to Wyoming.

What is a homesick steer to do when he misses his pampered life and his attempts to escape fail? Chico, who would move heaven and earth to reunite with Will, Sophia, and his life on the Frio, hoofs it south despite the perils along the way. Perhaps far off lands had greener pastures but it was empty of the love that made a place feel like home.

Meet Flamin-Go BOB

Meet the author and illustrator

Cheryl, a former school teacher, creates paintings, writes books, and plans engaging activities for her grandchildren’s visits. She enjoys exploring new places with her husband and family. When traveling as a child, Cheryl packed a book, sketching pad, number 2 pencil, and a Jolly Ranchers Fire Stix. Stuffed inside her tote bag these days is an iPad for digital drawing, writing, and reading eBooks, along with a cinnamon cube pop or two.

Today, Parkinson’s disease offers challenges, but technology makes creating children’s books a pleasurable pursuit! Chico, Flamin-Go Bob, and Under the Umbrella Tree are Cheryl’s first picture books to be released. Where there is a will, there is a way!

Cheryl lives in Georgetown with her husband. Together, they maintain a vibrant flower garden, chase fiery sunsets, and venture through the Texas Hill Country when wildflowers blanket the rolling hills.
